Later on in the day, Gabbi found herself at the campsite and helping those patrolling by tending to their needs. With a friendly smile and demeanor, the Cubchoo made sure to help those with injuries first and foremost, acting as if she were a Nurse to those who really needed it.
After finishing patching up a fellow Explorer who'd gotten some minor scratches here and there, Gabbi decided to take a quick break from all that first aid.
"Phew, tha' was a lot to do! Good thing it's cooler now tha' th' sun's gone down. Tha' means less heatin' up for me!"
The Cubchoo started to shuffle her feet through the sand though, feeling the gritty sensation of the ground between her toes.
"Why, even th' sand's cooler! Much better than this mornin' and afternoon!"
Gabbi began to hum a small tune to herself happily, as she still had some energy to spare for some reason. Even though she'd been up on her feet all day, she was still feeling a bit energetic. Maybe it was due to the weather cooling down after such a hot, desert day? But regardless of the reason why Gabbi was feeling so good, she was just happy to be here. Regardless of the heat, regardless of how hard she'd worked, she was glad that she did something. And it wasn't just something, she did a task as an Explorer. And more than just one task, she'd done more than one! Life was great right now, and there wasn't anything that could break her good mood.

That is, until she saw something shift behind one of the Cacti, not too far from where she stood near the campsite out of the corner of her eye.
Gabbi's ears perked up instantly as she tried to listen out for someone. Her body grew still, expecting something- or someone- to come out of hiding. The Cubchoo's tail flicked for a moment as she continued to keep her body in a still position.

"Hey, kid, why are you just standing there?"

Gabbi turned her head slightly in the direction of the voice that spoke, but still kept her ears up and open for any sounds of intruders. When she looked she saw a Sandslash wearing a black hood looking over at her, with his arms crossed over his chest. Next to him was a Machop with a brown shawl over his body, a curious look on his face as he also looked at the Cubchoo.
Gabbi put a finger up to her lips, signalling for the two Pokemon who'd spotted her to stay silent. She then shifted her feet closer to the cactus in front of her slowly, inching closer to it inch by inch. The Cubchoo took one more inch as she took a deep breath and held it in, her eyes seemingly locked on the Cactus in front of her.

The Machop whispered to the Sandslash, "What's she doing over there, Razor?"
The Sandslash merely huffed and continued to watch Gabbi silently, just to see what she was up to.

Gabbi continued to watch the Cactus, the tension of what was happening also managing to catch the eye of some other Teams and Individuals at the campsite. What was that Cubchoo doing? That seemed to be the question going through a lot of their minds.
Suddenly, a flicker of movement came across Gabbi vision and she let go of her breath, also letting out a cold gust of powdered snow towards it.
Two shadows jumped up and away from the move in time, but the other shadow wasn't as lucky. Just as it was moving forward, the intruder was hit directly, the Powder Snow attack freezing them by their legs almost instantly. Upon closer inspection, it was a Sandile that Gabbi had caught. The Dark and Ground type grunted in irritation as it tried its damnedest to try and get loose from the ice, but to no avail.

"Got one of 'em." Gabbi said with a little pride-filled smile, happy that she'd managed to catch one of the intruders. But that was just it, there were two more of them left.
And they were still here.

Out from what seemed to be nowhere, came a Cacnea with a scar going down its right eye, it's eyes burning with the will to fight. Right beside it was a Krokorok with a sash tied around his arm and a few crooked teeth, as it gnashed his teeth together, opening his jaw to try and intimidate some of the Pokemon on the site.
The Machop and Sandslash immediately responded by getting in defensive stances, while Gabbi followed the same but was behind the intruders instead.
"C'mon, you jerks!" Gabbi exclaimed, her eyes narrowed at the intruders. "Ah won't let you get any further inside th' site!"
"That goes for us too!" The Machop said, lunging forward to attack the Cacnea with a Fire Punch. The Grass Pokemon managed to dodge the attack in time by jumping in the air, but was immediately brought back down to earth by Razor, the Sandshrew, who managed to land a devastating Fury Cutter.
The Cacnea managed to get back up onto its feet, shooting out a barrage of Pin Missiles at the two Pokemon that attacked it. Razor managed to jump out the way, but the Fighting-type took the attack himself, putting up his arms to deflect the attack.
"Ouchh!" The Machop saw the small pins sticking out of his arm a bit, and brushed them off. "That stung!"
"Then next time dodge it, Brace. You can't always brace yourself for every attack."
"UGHHHHH, you did not just make a lame joke right now!" Brace groaned.
The Cacnea disrupted their banter by attempting to strike at Razor with Needle Arm, only to be countered by a Poison Jab to the face- er, stomach. Cacnea anatomy was quite strange, no? But either way, the Grass-type fell to his hands on the ground, trying to gather back the wind that was just knocked out of it, as well as recover from the super-effective move that was used on it.

As for Gabbi, she was trying to take down the Krokorok on her own, blowing out continuous gusts of Powder Snow at the Ground and Dark-type. In return, the Krokorok was trying to get in close to Gabbi to clamp his jaws unto her with a vicious Bite. The two of them were always so close yet so far away to getting in a hit, what with the Krokorok managing to dodge in time, while Gabbi was doing her best in keeping the reptile from getting too close. But despite them being able to do this for so long, Gabbi was starting to wear out and eventually tripped over herself, trying to dodge.
The Krokorok smirked evilly as he took the opportunity to lunge at the shiny Cubchoo, is jaws open wide and ready to chomp down.
But all of a sudden, a blur came in between the attacking crocodile and the ice bear, stopping the Krokorok in his place.

Gabbi's eyes went wide in surprise at what she saw in front of her.

Halting the attack by holding it's jaw clamped shut with their bare hands, there stood a Quilava, glaring daggers at the Krokorok.
"Step. Away. From. The. Kid."
The Krokorok gulped at the fury and intimidation that seemed to leak from the Fire-type.
